Office Policies
Hours of Operation
The office is generally open from 8am until 5pm Mondays through Friday. The office closes for all major holidays.
The office is open most Saturdays (except major holiday weekend Saturdays) from 8am until the last patient has been seen. Please call early on Saturdays for sick appointments. Patients are seen by appointment only on Saturday. This is not a walk-in clinic. Saturday office hours are emergency only visits. If it is a chronic problem, please make an appointment during the week with your primary pediatrician.
Appointments
Our office sees patients by appointments only. If a family arrives without an appointment they will be seen after all the scheduled patients have been seen. If you are greater than 10 minutes late for an appointment, you may be asked to reschedule.
Appointments for an ill child will always be the same day. If you are unable to make a same day appointment for illness, or need to make an appointment for a non-acute illness, please ask to speak with a nurse. Do not wait until late in the day to call and request an appointment.
Appointments for well check-ups are made in advance. If you need a same day appointment for a check-up, please ask to speak to a nurse and we will accommodate you if able.
Payment
If the patient’s insurance card is not available, you will be asked to pre-pay for the visit. If you present the insurance card at a later date, we will make an attempt to bill your insurance company at that time. If insurance payment is received, your original pre-payment will be refunded.
- Insurance cards and insurance co-payments must be made at the time of check-in.
- If you do not have the insurance card or co-payment, you will be asked to reschedule.
- If you are unable to make the pre-payment, you will be asked to reschedule.
Dr. Gill’s Hours:
Dr. Gill is available to see patients all day on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. She is also available on Tuesday mornings until noon. Dr. Gill is out of the office on Wednesdays.
Dr. Jason’s Hours:
Dr. Jason is available to see patients all day Tuesday thru Friday. Dr. Jason is out of the office on Mondays.
Dr. Shmalo’s Hours:
Dr. Shmalo is available to see patients all day on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Dr. Shmalo is out of the office on Tuesdays.
Emergencies:
If you have a medical emergency during office hours, please call the office (317-217-2900) and ask to speak to a nurse. If you have a medical emergency after the office has closed, please call the office (317-217-2900). The call will be forwarded to Dr. Gill, Dr. Shmalo, or Dr. Jason’s pager. Please enter the phone number you would like the doctor to call. Do not leave a voice message on the pager.
The doctor on call will not discuss lab or x-ray results, make referrals to specialists, refill prescriptions, phone in antibiotics, or schedule appointments. These must be done during regular office hours.
Notice of Right to Request Good Faith Estimate
Under Indiana law, a patient may ask for an estimate of the amount the patient will be charged for a nonemergency medical service provided in our office. The law requires that an estimate be provided within 5 business days of scheduling the nonemergency health care service unless the nonemergency health care service is scheduled to be performed by the practitioner within 5 business days of the date of the patient’s request. You may contact the front desk if you have any questions regarding your right to request this estimate.
